Specialties: Tear film and ocular surface, vision research, Sjogren’s syndrome, drug delivery, nanotechnology, tear fluid biomarkers of autoimmune disease, imaging, epithelial cell biology, exocytosis, membrane trafficking.

As Associate Dean for Basic and Translational Research, Sarah Develops and supports research programs associated with basic and translational sciences in the School of Medicine. Develops and fosters entrepreneurship and corporate collaborations to increase translational research impact. Aids in the assembly and support of new research teams to compete for new initiatives. Identifies strategies for sustained support and expansion of research programs including new strategies for research funding. Increases the effectiveness of communication regarding research opportunities and research success.
